About SqFtCalc
SqFtCalc exists because square footage looks trivial and quietly isn't. The multiplication is easy; the discipline — splitting odd rooms honestly, subtracting what won't be covered, adding waste before pricing — is where projects go wrong.
What it does
One calculator handles a single room or a whole project: multiple areas per page, four shapes (rectangle, circle, triangle, trapezoid), five units mixed freely (feet, inches, yards, meters, centimeters), cut-out rows that subtract, and totals in square feet, square yards, square meters and acres. Companion pages specialize it for walls and paint, flooring boxes and whole houses.
The math, in the open
Every figure comes from the standard area formulas and these exact conversion definitions: 1 ft = 0.3048 m, 1 sq yd = 9 sq ft, 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft, 1 sq ft = 0.09290304 m². Results are planning estimates for materials and comparisons — not a survey, not an appraisal, and not a substitute for the ANSI Z765 gross-living-area measurement an appraiser produces. Where a page quotes a rule of thumb (paint coverage, waste percentages), it says so and gives the range.
How it's built
SqFtCalc is a static site with no server and no account system. The calculators run entirely in your browser; your measurements are never transmitted, stored, or analyzed. Details on the privacy page.
Part of a small toolbox
SqFtCalc is one of a family of single-purpose free tools — the footer links to its siblings, and for project work it pairs with ProfitBid (turn measurements into a bid) and RemodelCostCalc (estimate the remodel). A Pro tier ($9/mo) with saved projects and printable material lists is planned; the free calculators will stay free.
